Here's What to Expect

Welcome to our chiropractic clinic

Your first visit to Ormeau Chiropractic Centre is an essential step on your journey to better health and well-being. Here’s what you can expect during your new patient consultation.

  • A warm welcome when you arrive, our friendly team will greet you with a smile. We know that visiting a new healthcare provider can be a little nerve-wracking, so we’ll do our best to put you at ease.
  • One-on-one consultation: you’ll meet our experienced chiropractor Dr. Jae Yoon Lee (Chiropractor), who will listen to your health history and any current issues. Don’t hesitate to share your concerns and ask questions as your comfort is important to us.
  • Symptom Evaluation: You’ll discuss your specific symptoms or discomfort, including their location, intensity, and any factors that exacerbate or alleviate them. This helps the chiropractor understand your condition better.
  • Physical Examination: The chiropractor will perform a comprehensive physical examination including the use of Nervoscope, which may include checking your posture, range of motion, muscle tone, and reflexes. They will also perform orthopaedic and neurological tests to assess the function of your nervous system.
  • X-ray Analysis (if clinically required but recommended): In many Gonstead chiropractic practices, X-rays are considered a crucial part of the assessment process. X-rays provide a detailed view of the spine, allowing the chiropractor to identify subluxations (misalignments) and other structural issues that may not be apparent through physical examination alone. Because seeing is knowing, not seeing is guessing and we do not want to guess about your health and body.
  • Analysis and Diagnosis: The chiropractor will carefully analyse the information gathered from your history, symptoms, physical examination, and X-rays. They will use this data to make a precise diagnosis and determine the specific areas of your spine that require adjustment.
  • Adjustment: Based on their analysis, the chiropractor will perform targeted and precise adjustments to correct subluxations in your spine. The Gonstead Method places a strong emphasis on the specific correction of these subluxations using manual adjustments. The adjustments are usually characterised by the use of hands to manipulate the spine, either on the cervical chair, knee chest or pelvic bench tables.
  • Post-Adjustment Evaluation: After the adjustment, the chiropractor may re-evaluate your posture, range of motion, and other relevant factors to assess the immediate impact of the adjustment.
  • Treatment Plan: The chiropractor will discuss their findings and treatment recommendations with you. They will outline a customised treatment plan that may include the frequency of visits, expected duration of care, and any additional therapies or exercises that may be beneficial for your condition.
  • Patient Education: Part of the Gonstead approach is patient education. Your chiropractor will explain the importance of proper spinal health, the role of adjustments in maintaining it, and provide guidance on lifestyle modifications, exercises, and ergonomics to support your overall well-being.
  • Follow-Up Visits: Depending on your condition and the recommended treatment plan, you’ll typically schedule follow-up visits with the chiropractor. These visits may involve additional adjustments and ongoing assessments to track your progress for better quality of your life.
